Vattenskydd.ax is Åland Water's information channel about water protection. Here we offer a platform for information and knowledge. In this way, we want to raise awareness about our dependence on clean and healthy water.

‘Kranmärkt’ is our ‘Eco-tap’ label, our sustainability label for businesses and organisations that choose tap water over bottled water as an environmentally friendly and much more economical choice.

Sustainable drinking water

Åland Water has put new focus on our strategic and sustainable development work since the autumn of 2016. The process has been linked with two ongoing processes in Åland: the work with a sustainable food strategy for Åland and the Åland Development and Sustainability Agenda, where the goal 3 says “All water is of good quality”.

In the year 1988 three water protection areas were established in Åland to secure the access to clean water and to prevent pollutions.

To ensure future access to clean water we have to take care of the lakes which provide us with the source water. When we protect the water in our lakes we also safeguard the sensitive environment of the Baltic Sea.
